Our Church
Immanuel Evangelical, now Immanuel-Wesley United Methodist Church, was dedicated on November 28, 1897, at a total cost of $2,150.00. since the Church was always small in total members, the Church was always a part of a charge.
At one time, it was attached to Elizabethville, Ebenezer Church. then it was later attached to Calvary, Wiconisco. when Rev. C.W. Horner was pastor, it was attached to Seibert, Williamstown. When Rev. W.E. Sinclair was pastor, it was attached to Grace, Muir. Oakdale Zion and Trinity County Line were in association with Immanuel when Rev. Chester Strohl was pastor. In 1968, when Rev. Van Kirk was pastor, Oakdale and Forney’s Churches were closed and Immanuel became a part of Trinity, Elizabethville.
In 1932 the Sunday School rooms, which were added to the church, were build. Rev. Sinclair was pastor.
In February 1943, the property of the late Elmer Romberger was purchased at an auction. So from March 1943 until July 1963 a pastor lived in the parsonage beside Immanuel Church.
Through the years, Immanuel Church and membership have proclaimed the Gospel and offered support and encouragement of our brothers and sisters in Christ. The smallness of membership lends itself to a family relationship and an openness of the heart to others’ needs.
In 2019, Wesley UMC Wiconisco, merged together with Immanuel UMC becoming Immanuel-Wesley United Methodist Church.
The purpose, which began over 100 years ago, is still the purpose today.
