Short Description
We are a United Methodist congregation. As United Methodists, we are focused on making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
If you are looking for a church home, come and share with us what you are looking for. We invite you to join us in worship, study, and service. Family activities, special events like the Christmas Play and Annual Block Party, and serving a free community meal with other churches in our area are all a part of how we are in ministry.
Our Roots:
In 1871, the Methodists erected a house of worship, which is now a part of the present building located at No. 10 East Main Street, and the Union Sunday School was conducted there.
in 1873, this church became part of the East German Annual Conference of the United Brethren in Christ. In May 1879, the building was sold for $300 to the trustees for the United Brethren in Christ, and on January 4, 1880, the U.B. Sunday School was organized.
In February 1988 plans were made for the erection of a new church building at the present location. The church was to be known as Trinity Church of the United Brethren in Christ. The new building was dedicated Sunday, October 20, 1889. The first floor was occupied in part by the adult Sunday School classes. One small room to the front, east, (former location of the church office) was used by the Primary and Junior Department.
The church building was enlarged in 1940, but the Sunday School enlarged to the extent that it was necessary for the Adult Department to be moved to the Sanctuary, leaving the first floor to the nursery, Primary and Junior Departments.
In November of 1946 when General Conference consummated the merger of the Evangelical and the United Brethren denominations, we became the Trinity Evangelical United Brethren Church. In 1968 the Evangelical United Brethren merged with the Methodist denomination, and we are now known as the Trinity United Methodist Church.
In 1992, the most recent addition to the building was consecrated. New Sunday School classrooms, offices, and a chapel were added to the church.
Our Core Values:
A commitment to providing the best possible ministries for our children, youth and adults.
A commitment to do mission work in our community, country and the world.
A commitment to have fellowship with one another and seek to improve the quality of that fellowship.
A commitment to be sensitive to the worship needs as they arise for all those in our community.
